This is a painting from my 2023 Solo Exhibition "Sonata." In many of the paintings in this exhibition, my figures are dressed in formal black and white gowns. In exploring the idea of monochrome garments, I found I used more color than ever before to depict the stark contrast of black and white with the body. In my past few one-person shows, I explored vivid color in my paintings of dancers. Red, blue, green, peach, and purple, were the music to which the figures danced.
