In our Chinese culture a 100 of something is an auspicious number and a celebration. A 100 bird painting back in the ancient time represent the worship of the Empress. Phoenix represent the empress, while the dragon represent the King. The job as an empress back in the day is to service and to be the mother of it's people. Traditionally, this 100 birds painting usually features 100 cranes with 1 phoenix, with it's title of "The Picture of 100 Birds Pay Homage to the Phoenix" or in Chinese, "百鸟朝凤图".

I created this for celebration, not necessary for the royal, but the one that means a lot to me and you. I have chosen peacock because it shapes and form resembling a phoenix. Who would you honor using this artwork?

Note: I can confirmed that there are 100 peacocks/peafowls/peachicks in this painting.
