Original Artwork's Description

With "I Still Believe" I was inspired by the January full moon, I tried to capture the interplay of light and darkness during the cold winter night. Symbolizing wisdom, intuition, and spiritual connection, the moon can serve as a guide to realizing our true potential by trusting our intuition. The painting has the word Abracadabra written in a triangular form that was once used as a good luck and healing charm.

To convey the brilliance of moonlight on a snow-covered city, I layered paint with gold leaf for depth and luminosity. The painting also incorporates the number eight, representing abundance, prosperity, and the inner strength to endure during the cold winter months.

Artist Bio

Cynthia Ligeros draws her inspiration from the dynamic and constantly-evolving urban landscapes that surround us, as well as the pristine beauty of the natural world. Each of her paintings is born from a singular, driving emotion that informs every brushstroke and composition.

She begins her creative process with an under-painting that allows organic forms to develop on the canvas. Through an artistic dialogue with the piece, she composes and unifies these forms until a finished abstract painting emerges that reflects the cycles, emotions, and equilibrium of our ever-changing environment.

This layering technique is emblematic of the broader themes in her work: the tension between the hard edges of our structured world and the organic contours of the natural world. Cynthia's art is a metaphorical exploration of the idea of the subconscious self unifying with the higher self to achieve wholeness.

Her artwork has been acquired by the University of Colorado Boulder, St. Regis Hotels, The Longmont Justice Center, and collectors across the United States and Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. Her work has been showcased in prestigious locations such as the Denver International Airport, the Madden Museum, and Denver Botanic Gardens, as well as in galleries spanning from San Francisco to New York City.
