Cynthia Uden grew up in the small town of Hastings, NE. Her childhood was spent working with horses, swimming and doing the things other kids do. Upon graduation from the local high school she applied for and was sent to Brazil as an exchange student.
Upon returning to the states she enrolled in college at NAU/Flagstaff AZ where she decided to major in Art. Eventually returning to her hometown, she enrolled and completed her BA. After receiving her degree from Hastings College she worked several years as an ad compositor at the local newspaper. Drawing and painting interested her and she took several classes at UNL/Lincoln NE. Upon acceptance to the printmaking department at School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received a Heldman Scholarship.
After a year she returned to Hastings, eventually renting a studio at the Burkholder Project/Lincoln NE.
Ms. Uden spends part of her time employed at a retail store. She enjoys traveling and browsing museums and galleries. Nearer to home she enjoys trying out new recipes and gardening.
