Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

This piece is one of many where I incorporate multiple views of a single site, as though one were looking around the place. The subject is the vernal (spring time) seasonal pools that appear in our forests during the spring thaw. The pools are the home to many amphibians (frogs, newts, spring creepers, etc.) before they ultimately dry up as summer approaches.

All art by Dan Gottsegen

I want the paint to sing in my work. I am inspired by the light and movement in nature. And in my work I often improvise like jazz as I paint. In this way painting is alive for me.Birds in flight in a light abstract scene with topographic map elements.Birds in flight in a light abstract scene with topographic map elements.Sunlight filtering through the forest in the autumn.
