Artwork Description

Speaking generally, I'm intensely interested in simplifying and stripping back most things that aren't necessary in my everyday life and in my artwork. I'm process driven in most aspects of life, preferring rigid rules, clean lines, and a minimal aesthetic. In my artwork, I strive to balance simplicity with interest. I'm seeking just enough interest and complexity to create impact, engaging the viewer to linger for an extended view, yet strip away all unnecessary elements with the goal of a clean and ordered composition. The balancing of positive and negative space within my work is central to the overall finish, and something I'm mindful of from the planning stages and through execution of the painting.

This artwork was painted by Daniel McCulloch in 2022.

All edges are fully painted.

Artist Bio

I'm a contemporary painter specialising in medium to large format abstract artwork. I use a variety of mediums to create abstract compositions that reflect the beauty and complexity of life. My paintings are characterized by hard lines, bold blocks of saturated colour, and intricate geometric compositions. Paintings often feature overlapping geometric shapes, circles, and lines that create an interplay of light and shadow. I strive to express the tension between the seemingly mundane and the extraordinary, creating works of art that challenge viewers to look beyond the surface and find hidden meaning and insight. My goal is to create artwork that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
