Artwork Description

This artwork was painted in 2023.

The painting is an abstract representation of the Tasmanian Landscape, one that is both familiar and unfamiliar. The goal with this piece was not to paint a place per se, but to combine various elements within the overall composition that viewers could relate to their own lived experience of this unique part of Australia.

This artwork was specifically painted as an entrant to the Glover Prize, 2023. It was, unfortunately, not selected as a finalist for this years prize, but nonetheless I feel it's one of my strongest pieces to date, both conceptually and visually.

The painting has been completed on linen using Atelier Interactive Acrylics. All edges of this artwork are fully painted.

Artist Bio

I'm a contemporary painter specialising in medium to large format abstract artwork. I use a variety of mediums to create abstract compositions that reflect the beauty and complexity of life. My paintings are characterized by hard lines, bold blocks of saturated colour, and intricate geometric compositions. Paintings often feature overlapping geometric shapes, circles, and lines that create an interplay of light and shadow. I strive to express the tension between the seemingly mundane and the extraordinary, creating works of art that challenge viewers to look beyond the surface and find hidden meaning and insight. My goal is to create artwork that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
