Artwork Description

‘Can I Borrow A Feeling?’ featuring The Simpsons character Kirk Van Houten is a one-of-a-kind mixed media collage artwork created from cut/torn paper fragments, screen print and acrylic paint.

Layered paper elements have been harvested from a Simpsons comic book, an old damaged Simpsons board game, magazines, books and junk mail. Within this piece features 40+ characters and references from The Simpsons.

This work embraces fun and nostalgia, celebrating an iconic moment and character whilst utilising recycled materials.

Finished with three coats of gloss varnish, ‘Can I Borrow A Feeling?’ has a sleek, glass-like surface that enhances the depth and vibrancy of its colours. The piece comes professionally framed in black wood and is ready to display.

Thanks for checking it out. Cheers Darren

Artist Bio

Based near Wollongong on the NSW East Coast of Australia, Darren King is a multidisciplinary artist working across collage, printmaking, mixed media, and painting. Over the past five years, he has honed a distinctive visual language that merges traditional and contemporary techniques.

Trained in Fine Arts, cartooning, illustration, graphic design, and screen printing, King combines elements from each of these disciplines to create bold, textural, and visually engaging works. Since refocusing on original mixed media art in 2021, he has developed a particular passion for collage.

His art captures the beauty of the ordinary and evokes a playful nostalgia, celebrating the local, the joyous, the tasty or the long-forgotten.
