A century of opal mining at White Cliffs has resulted in a unique landscape that is dotted with thousands of mullock heaps and old shafts. Slowly nature will reclaim the old workings and yet, despite the mining, there is a beauty to be found in this scarred environment. I paint in a realist/impressionist style with the aim of depicting the subject in a way that is convincing, in respect to both tone and colour, and hopefully capturing something of the feel of the location.
