This abstract expressionist painting forms part of a recent and ongoing series exploring elemental rhythms, surround colour, and sensory immersion. I wanted to evoke a sense of freedom, wildness and unrestrained energy. I created an energetic tangle of lines layered over a field of shifting colour planes. The densely interwoven lines and splatters, applied in a chaotic yet deliberate manner, draw inspiration from mid-20th-century Abstract Expressionist techniques. Be that as it may, I hope the work also invites personal interpretation, allowing each viewerโs response to remain entirely their own.
This artwork will never be reproduced as a print and remains a one-of-a-kind original.
The surface of the painting is heavily textured, built up through multiple layers, with visible lumps. The painting is sealed with a protective gloss varnish, and the sides of the canvas are painted.
NOTE: This artwork can be hung without an external frame (edges are 4cm thick and painted and varnished). In situ photographs that might include a frame are for illustrative purposes only. Should you wish to frame the artwork, Bluethumb offer a variety of excellent options. In situ photographs provide an indication of the painting's size and are as accurate as possible. Please take note of the painting's actual measurements and size in relation to your wall.
BIO: My ideas and how I apply them to the canvases are seldom subtle and my intention is for the artworks to be striking and distinctive. I like to explore emotion and expression through colour and shape. I often use bold blocks of colour and outlines to anchor my designs that (I hope) are sometimes spiritual, fantastical, political, and in the tradition of modern and humanist art. As I develop my paintings, I focus on an idea, an effect, and a mood. I enjoy painting in different styles and my works range from abstract to abstract figurative, abstract expressionism to pop art, in addition to impressionist works.
