This seascape is painted in a graphic style to convey the construct of the picturesque in landscape art. The flat areas of colour and bold outlines are influenced by Australian Modernist Margaret Preston and also Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. On a personal note, I love visiting this beach with my family and our dog Arlo, and wanted to create a narrative sense of a day at the beach.
