Rainy Day Reverence

Around Thanksgiving I was leaving the unitarian church and saw these umbrellas outside the building. It reminded me of the different people making a community.

In the brushstrokes of this oil painting, I've captured the essence of a reflective moment on a rain-soaked day. The array of umbrellas, each with its unique hue and story, stands as a testament to shared human experiences. Through an interplay of light and shadow, realism blends with impressionism, inviting contemplation and a sense of solace. This piece will infuse any space with a serene and thoughtful ambiance.

My Rain and Shine oil painting series is based on photos combined as a play between reality and abstraction. Influenced by the Bokeh effect of the blur created by out of focus images, I've spent many a rainy day photographing the world through my windshield as an inspiration for my rain paintings.

Water and light combine to create a sense of peace and momentum.

In these moments, I'm reminded to take a minute to just be. To pause and appreciate life as it is, and to recognize the beauty of the present moment. To allow myself to feel the fullness of life and to recognize the power of the present.

Images from nature continue to inspire my work through landscapes, beach scenes and unique flower compositions.
