I have been painting for as long as I remember. Though not formally trained, I engaged in artmaking throughout school and also completed a number of shorter courses during my university studies. I have been working in academic, human services and research roles but always painted in my free time.
I reengaged with my creative side in full when asked by a friend to complete a bespoke commission in 2020. I have not stopped since. I had my first solo show โFar Horizons, Jewel Seasโ at Gallery Lane Cove on 19-30 January 2021. Since then, I have taken part in a number of Drummoyne Art Society shows, of which I am a proud member. I have also won first prize at the Combined Art Societies of Sydney show in 2023 (watercolour) and got a Highly Commended for a watercolour at the Sydney Royal Art and Craft Show in 2023.
Water and landscape have been a constant source of creative energy. Having moved to Sydney from Ukraine with my family as an adolescent, I have been drawn to the light, energy, colours and textures of the Australian landscape. Some of my art is an attempt to capture the sensation of immersion in nature, whether it be the power of the wave or the serenity of the Australian outback landscape. Recently I have been more focused on the challenges of depicting heritage architecture. I paint in acrylic and watercolour.
I currently exhibit some of my smaller locally inspired work in the Hummingbird Sweet Things store in Wareemba, Sydney.
I am a proud committee member of the Drummoyne Art Society in Sydney.
