This is the second piece in the Haberfield series of watercolours depicting heritage Sydney shopfronts.
Ramsay Street Haberfield has some lovely well preserved buildings from the Interwar period.
'Kerrigan's Buildings' is a terrace of six shops with residences above, built in 1915 in the Federation architectural style with Art Nouveau motifs.
You can read about their history here: https://www.innerwest.nsw.gov.au/ArticleDocuments/1712/Ramsay%20St%20167-177.pdf.aspx
As with my other Sydney series, I focus on capturing the distinguishing architectural features and details of these gems.
This painting received a Very Highly Commended Award from the judge at the 2025 Royal Arts and Crafts Show in Sydney, and sold at the show.
