Rust is an exploration of natures raw beauty and the untamed allure of earth tones. Inspired by the organic essence of the world around us, this abstract painting seeks to evoke a sense of serenity and harmony with the natural elements. Through layers of earthy hues and fluid brushstrokes, I invite you to immerse yourself in a tranquil reverie, connecting with the raw essence of the earth.
My process: I started with a messy charcoal sketch straight onto the canvas. I painted earthy tones as a background using different thicknesses and textures. The next layer I added more earthy tones which I scratched into with a skewer and rubbed the paint from the skewer back onto the canvas to add little lumps of colour. I then drew scratchy lines with a posca and wet the lines with water to allow drips and messy marks.
