Artwork Description

“Drifting in the Shallows” is a diptych inspired by a quiet moment in a creek. I like to paint layers of colour with gestural marks that evoke the transience of light on water as it interacts with leaves and plant fragments.

I love being immersed in nature and draw inspiration from my coastal and bush surroundings especially local creeks and streams. I work abstractly to reinterpret nature's patterns, rhythms and colours.

Artist Bio

I am a painter living on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. I love being immersed in nature and draw inspiration from my coastal and bush surroundings. I am especially fascinated by the flux of sunlit patterns on water and foliage in local and hinterland streams and creeks.

I have been awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Diploma of Education and a Graduate Diploma of Art and Design. I enjoy the challenge of working overseas with other international artists and have undertaken recent art residencies in Beijing, Paris, Berlin and Tuscany. I have exhibited in many solo shows and group exhibitions. My work is held in public and private collections throughout Australia and overseas in London, France, Berlin and Hong Kong. Five of my paintings were selected to appear on season 13 of Selling Houses Australia. Other paintings have been selected to appear on the Block and Love it or List it.

Dianne's paintings explore the beauty and fragility of tiny moments that can often go unnoticed. The flux of sunlit patterns on water and foliage in rivulets and creek beds are her inspiration. Mostly painting with oils she works abstractly to reinterpret nature’s patterns, rhythms and colours.
