A Dahlia, Rose, Half A Lemon & Ceramics

I have recently discovered that my favourite dahlia is actually a small, round and white one. The one represented in the painting was a gift from a friend. This painting evolved after art class was cancelled. I had a beautifully styled setting for my students, but instead ended up painting it myself. Here the dahlia is in the company of a yellow rose from my garden, half a lemon, and some of my beautiful ceramics.

This piece is painted using Australian made, artist quality paints, and is beautifully textured.

Drawing inspiration from her garden and the beautiful surrounds, she has a particular passion for representing house plants, flowers and treasures from her various collections. 'I find inspiration everywhere and am influenced by nature, my garden, and the changing seasons. I find there is beauty in every stage of the life cycle, whether it be the closed bud of a flower, a deteriorated sea shell or an autumn leaf. My main challenge being that time is limited and of all my ideas, only some will find their way to paper! My art practice is my meditation, my connection to the earth, to my family, and at times it is all encompassing in the most beautiful of ways'.
