Artwork Description

This artwork is in a series inspired by morning walks through my garden, and what I harvest along the way. It depicts my practice of representing botanicals realistically and my interest in the shadows created by direct light, how it reflects and passes through glass vessels and water (in this instance an empty art glass vase, small crystal vase and gin cocktail), and the interesting shadows cast by different objects and their arrangement within a composition.

I was a finalist in the Tatiara Art Prize at Walkway Gallery in South Australia with this piece.

Artist Bio

Dominika is an artist living in the Yarra Valley. Drawing inspiration from her garden and the beautiful surrounds, she has a particular passion for representing house plants, flowers and treasures from her various collections. 'I find inspiration everywhere and am influenced by nature, my garden, and the changing seasons. I find there is beauty in every stage of the life cycle, whether it be the closed bud of a flower, a deteriorated sea shell or an autumn leaf. My main challenge being that time is limited and of all my ideas, only some will find their way to paper! My art practice is my meditation, my connection to the earth, to my family, and at times it is all encompassing in the most beautiful of ways'.
