This painting captures a familiar warmth from the heart of Adelaide’s summer: the Ebenezer Night Markets. Held between December and March, the markets come alive from 5:30pm with food, music, and a shared sense of community.
As the last dusk pours through the narrow street, shadows stretch across the figures—families, couples, friends, and children begin to gather. In the foreground, two children stand in the delicate threshold between light and shadow. Who hasn't walked through an evening market with a parent, a friend, or a child? In painting this, I hoped to evoke the gentle familiarity of such memories: fleeting, warm, and shared.
