Artwork Description

Resembling a traditional Chinese painting of lotus flowers and koi fish, this artwork breaks the boundaries of perspective. It depicts a seamless merger of the sky and water, creating an ethereal ambiance. Both the fish and the water lack concrete forms, instead influencing each other with their colours to create a world of light and transparent shadows. I attempted to convey the harmonious composition of Chinese painting, where elements respond to each other, using impressionistic techniques, and forsaking traditional forms. In doing so, I liberated the fish, capturing the essence of light and water.
