Executed with a combination of palette knife and brushwork, through layered impasto and selective detail that focuses on expressive texture and saturated colour to sculpt form and light. I deliberately left soft, open margins that dissolve into an unfinished background, simplifying the rendering of the collar and chain, subtly conveying his office and faith。
In this portrait of Pope Francis, I sought to move beyond strict photorealism to capture something deeper: the warmth and humanity of his presence. Where the light falls, it finds his smile. The Pope’s subtle eye lines and relaxed posture are carefully emphasised to evoke not only his physical likeness, but also a sense of humility, kindness.
