Artwork Description

Beneath the monumental canopy of an aeonium aboreum succulent, planted by the artist's late father over a decade ago, eight sparrows find a haven for their playful routine. This painting captures a moment of serene coexistence, one that the artist witnessed in her everyday life.

The background is created through fluid art, allowing the colours to flow into a foundation. Then, with palette knives and gold leaf, the artist sculpted the plant's unique, petal-like structures, its weathered branches, and fibrous aerial roots—layers of texture that transcend its form, elevating it into the likeness of a sacred, protective tree. Sparrows are drawn in a realistic style, with delicate captures detailing in every fibre of their feathers. It speaks of a legacy that grows ever taller, a sheltering love that continues to breathe and provide, long after the gardener has gone.
