The work was done from studies made on a recent trip to Melbourne. The painting techniques of combined brush and knife work add texture and movement evoking the feeling and sounds of a pulsing Yarra river. The work also evokes a bygone era where boating was a common relaxing pastime.
The work is done in a limited palette of oil colours mixed to recall dappled light, shadows and reflections on this famous waterway.
