Rock Study 1

Rock Study 1 is a compact, textural exploration of form and surface — an intimate work that captures the quiet strength of natural stone. Layers of neutral pigment and dry-brushed charcoal lines build a sense of weathered depth, as though the image has been unearthed rather than painted. Subtle red and ochre undertones evoke the warmth of iron and earth beneath the grey skin of the rocks.

This small painting has strong sculptural presence despite its modest size. It is unframed, but would present beautifully with a simple timber or shadow-line frame that enhances its earthy tones and tactile surface.
