Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
My local botanical gardens is a great place to visit. As an artist it is even more interesting, the bird life that frequent the gardens and the trees that are providing food and shelter for them inspire many of my artworks! In this particular painting, a lone Bronzewing pigeon has settled itself on a log on the banks of the lake. Its feathers are ruffled, either from the cold or perhaps a swim in the lake! My son captured the moment on camera for me and I made mental notes of the focal points.
I love to capture the atmosphere and how well the bird fits into its surroundings, almost camouflaged by the colours of the reeds and grasses.
Bringing the "outdoors/indoors" has always been an artistic goal for me and I am very pleased with this result.
Watercolour on a background of watercolour paper on illustration board, this painting captures the essence of the subject and would enhance any space where the beauty of nature in its natural environment is showcased.
