Artwork Description

Mixed Media on paper

Signed on the front.

Yellow tailed Black Cockatoos often fly over my house in central Victoria, they have a unique screech that sets them apart from the white Cockatoos' that also fly over my house. I have placed this one in a wattle tree and munching on a banksia cone.
Although these beautiful birds frequent central Victoria, it is difficult to capture them with the camera, it's a matter of patience and perserverance! This striking mixed media painting would make a great feature piece in any space. I have worked on a watercolour paper background using wax pencil, ink and watercolour.

Three brightly coloured red and burgundy luecadendron flowers are the main feature of this brightly coloured artwork. They are surrounded by tea tree flowers in bright pinks and red tones, with some green leaves scattered throughout. There is a supporting background of blue tones, and a small blue wren can be seen poking his head out through the tea tree flowers, in a "now you see me" style.Crimson Rosellas with their striking red and blue feathers are the features of this painting, set in amongst the red and white flowers of the Banksia Menziesii and their textured shaded green leaves.
Two large birds are the central figures while one smaller bird is flying by, looking for somewhere to land.
Soft hues of blues, mauves and reds make up the distant sky colours. The blue flowers of the native morning iris feature throughout the painting, popping up in between the Banksias.A pair of rainbow lorikeets feature in this design piece as they nestle into the apple blossom branches laden with pink flowers. Their green body feathers blend with the grren leaves on the branches, and their dark royal blue head feathers blend in with the dark blue background. Their red beaks stand out from the flowers with their redish coloured stamens.A Blue wren and his "Jenny" wren feature in this colourful, blue and white tones painting. The blue wren and his jenny are in the foreground, standing in amongst the white daisies with yellow centres.
There are daisies fading into the background and a pale green weeping cherry tree is just to the left of the painting.
