Zahara

This painting was inspired by “BeBe Zahara Benet” a drag performer, television personality, and musician best known for winning the first season of the reality-television drag competition RuPaul's Drag Race. Unfortunately, she has often been the target of racist and homophobic attacks on social media, so this is my homage to a very brave and colourful personality!

The main colours of this painting are white, yellow and purple. Her hair is a deep synthetic yellow, and her skin is a kind of mocha colour to reflect her Cameroonian heritage. The bright pink lips are the focal point of the picture.
