Artist Emma Wreyford’s birds and abstract landscapes emanuate movement, vibrancy and wonder. Drawing inspiration from luminiosity and the psychology of colour. Her textured paintings express her intrinsic relationship with the environment.
Born in the late seventies Emma’s earlier work was defined by her childhood surroundings in the Isle of Wight, UK. Now based in the Mid-Coast of NSW after moving on from some stints in Sydney, one of which completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Paddington. Emma’s artistic practice explores the expansive space, rhythm and intensity of colour found in Australia’s landscape.
Emma has been exhibiting and selling over the last twenty years in Australia, New Zealand, America and the UK, she was also commissioned to paint abstracts for TV shows such as The Bachelor, The Apprentice, The Biggest Loser and Dating in the Dark. Her “Black Cockatoo in Abstract “painting was also chosen by Bindi Irwin for her themed room in the Song Hotel for the event “Singing the Praises of Inspirational women”.
Emma has recently completed a Certificate in Art Therapy and has helped people in support work exploring different art practices, she also held workshops at her local public school immersing the children in collage, painting with paints made from nature and other art techniques through art therapy.
