My Home Somewhere #1 Painting Study

I've started a new challenge for myself in the studio. A version of the daily painting practise; I start by collecting source images of Interior spaces that I envy or am drawn to in some way. Then I create an Alla Prima (all in one go) painted work on board to capture the feeling of that space. Think Bloomsbury Group, think English Cottage/Country Cottage charm. I'm going to give the working title to the series the "Envy Series". I hope to create each study on the same sized board to amount a collection of works with a similar theme. This will be one of my projects beginning in October 2023 and continue into 2024.

Emma Ward is a professional Central Queensland artist who is inspired by the beauty of botanicals, the power of memory, and the stories of connection in a moment of time.
My practice revolves around connecting feelings with memories so I guess I identify as an Expressionistic Romantic or a Romantic Expressionist!. I enjoy creating meaning from the art of everyday alchemy - Flowers, Animals and Faces feature in my paintings. Spirit and energy is so important in creating a heartfelt painting. My studio is my haven - I paint amongst my flowers, surrounded by four daughters, my loving husband and two fuzzy art interns (my two curious cats).
