Artwork Description

Lately I’ve been reflecting on my past, trying to capture those moments of nostalgia. So it is with natural progression that I’ve begun to look at the landscape of my childhood and the very familiar animals that I grew up with. I remember the first huge Brahman bull to come home to our property; he was absolutely terrifying! I was utterly petrified of this formidable beast! But now, as I look back through the softening eyes of my memory, I find him to be a very memorable creature, if not entirely trustworthy.
This piece was inspired by the beautiful photograph of Jo O'Keefe (Instagram) and the landscape of my youth.
This painting comes to you ready to hang, the sides of the canvas are painted to match the background. The underneath of my canvas's are left with the drippy edge (so that you can distinguish it as an original artwork), and a handwritten message.
My work is always posted in a bespoke wooden box, and the box can be kept for easy transportation or storage of the piece.

Artist Bio

Emma Ward is a professional Central Queensland artist who is inspired by the beauty of botanicals, the power of memory, and the stories of connection in a moment of time.
My practice revolves around connecting feelings with memories so I guess I identify as an Expressionistic Romantic or a Romantic Expressionist!. I enjoy creating meaning from the art of everyday alchemy - Flowers, Animals and Faces feature in my paintings. Spirit and energy is so important in creating a heartfelt painting. My studio is my haven - I paint amongst my flowers, surrounded by four daughters, my loving husband and two fuzzy art interns (my two curious cats).
