THE INSPIRATION
Visiting Roma Gorge is like finding a place where time does not exist. It lies at the end of a long sandy road accessible by 4 wheel drive, and its silence is interrupted only by the flocks of finches who line up at the waters edge to drink.
The stillness of this place is so stark, it’s almost confronting – everything seems suspended, as though the world which exists outside spins and spins, leaving Roma Gorge to exist as little more than poignant thought.
I love the starkness of the horizon here – rocky cliffs climb towards the sky – orange and burnt sienna and gunmetal grey set against the brightest blue, and the mineral-enriched waterhole which supports the life around it. Trees grow thin and gangly, and have learnt to survive in the most arid landscape. This is truly a place for contemplation and reflection. A place to breathe.
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This original artwork has been painted on loose canvas, and therefore needs to be stretched over an internal frame. You can take the artwork to your local framer, or use Bluethumb’s popular and convenient door to door framing service. The artwork measures approximately 168cm x 117cm. Once stretched it should measure 150cm x 100cm (approx). The image will wrap around the edges of the canvas, so external framing is entirely optional.
I have included some 'In situ' photos, which help us imagine art in our home. Feel free to reach out with pictures of your own space and I can virtually hang the painting for you. In situ photos provided here were created using various apps and may not be perfectly to scale. Photos depicting framed art are for illustrative purposes for your interest and consideration.
Best,
