Kakadu Watering Hole / original oil painting with water reflections

A painting based on a photo I took while in central Australia back in 2011. Here I challenged myself to use only three colours (one each of blue, yellow and red) along with black and white. The result is cohesive and yet striking, with loose expressive brushstrokes.

It’s a small painting with high impact- lovely dark indigo and soft yellow-green are the perfect complement to salmony pinks and mauves of the rocks.

I have included some 'In situ' photos, which help us imagine art in our home. Feel free to reach out with pictures of your own space and I can virtually hang the painting for you. In situ photos provided here were created using various apps and may not be perfectly to scale.
