Australian gum leaves are one of my favourite subjects to paint, and I simply can;t resist using a free approach to my colour palette, often allowing the weather or my mood to dictate the colours used. REBEL pays homage to the occasional green-blue leaf found on the ground among its pink/rusty friends.
The background is left unpainted, so the natural linen fibers show through. The linen has been primed and sealed for protection.
As an artist, I draw inspiration from nature, the seasons, the indigenous landscape, and from Australian artists such as Streeton, McCubbin, Whiteley, Gleeson and the marvelous Russian master Marc Chagall. There are also so many upcoming and emerging Australian artists which continue to inspire me daily. I am a prolific artist artist working full time from my studio in central Victoria, with much of my art being held in private collections around Australia, as well as exhibiting in local galleries and at the Victorian Artists Society in Melbourne.
All of my paintings are packed with the greatest care.
