Inspired by both the gorges of Northern Territory and the scrub around my home in central Victoria, this painting fuses together my love of the rugged Australian landscape both near and far.
Tree roots wander across gnarly rocks in beautiful motion with layers of earthy pink tones capturing the texture and soul of this beautiful land.
I added water to the bottom of the composition to ground the painting and also to create a connection with the blues of the sky above.
The whole painting was created over many weeks as I took my time to properly express my (messy) mark making. There is no realism here - it’s just pure expression. Thank you so much for looking!
