Artwork Description

This painting was inspired by a recent hike in the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park (part of the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage Area). Following this path through heavy mists, wildflowers and twisting vegetation, complete stillness, solitude. It was my still point. And what I had been seeking on this walk.

Artist Bio

I am a Melbourne (Naarm)‑based landscape painter whose practice explores the emotional experience of place. Working between realism and impressionism, my paintings aim to capture not just what is seen, but what is felt when immersed in the natural world. Australia’s vast and varied landscapes continue to inspire me — from dense rainforests and arid desert interiors to the familiar bushland close to home. It is often the quieter, transient moments within these environments that draw me in: a shift in light, a pause in weather, or a sense of stillness that invites reflection.
Through painting, I seek to distil these moments — responding to energy, atmosphere, and memory — and translate them into works that hold space for contemplation. My intention is to create paintings that resonate emotionally, offering viewers a moment of connection with the landscape and with their own experience of it.
