Still life painting is one of the few subjects over which you have complete control. You are not susceptible to changes in environment or movement of subject matter. Still life allows the artist to really experiment with the possibilities of brushwork, color and composition. At the same time, I really enjoy the quiet, uninterrupted process of still life painting.
