Blue Dragon Ed. 6 of 25

Blue Dragon is my favourite work. The image is of Yallingup main break in the afternoon with the surf in full swing. I love the contrast of dark and light, of deep water and light soft foam. I have tried to show the movement and energy of the wave in this work.
The paper size is A3 and the print size 17.8 x 50.3 cm with a border all round.

I studied Theatre Arts and specialised in Scenic painting and design. I loved this work and it led to me working for many years as a mural and decorative painter. I have been painting the ocean and the coast for quite a few years now. I love the ocean in all its moods. I love just to be within cooee of the coast and to hear the sea in the night and to know it is just a short distance away. I live in the Southwest of Western Australia and find so many beautiful places in this area. My current work is in pastels, oils and acrylic. I choose my media to suit my subject. My subject, so often is water. I am currently working on a series of still life works that combine familiar and nostalgic objects that evoke memory, combined with flowers and the light of the present. This for me is a show of respect for history and for the beauty of the moment.
