Freya with the Blue Eyes - The Goddess Collection

This piece is part of the Goddess Collection, a unique series inspirational artwork created to celebrate womankind. Artist grade acrylic colours were used on a gallery wrapped, deep edge canvas. The hair was produced separately using acrylic paints mixed with flow mediums and varnishes to achieve a unique layering of paints and cell formation. This was then attached to the canvas decoupage-style. The final result was finished with several layers of professional grade archival varnish for a beautiful lightfast finish.

I started my obsession with art more than 20 years ago. I work primarily with slow drying acrylics which allow me the opportunity to blend like oils but keep my colours very crisp. My first love is portraiture and I’m inspired by the strong women that surround me. I also love the turquoise Queensland waters on my doorstep and the textures and tones of the rugged Hinterland. I love the artistic freedom of expressing myself in my chosen medium and tend to follow my heart in my chosen subject rather than following a trend.
