Untold (The Falling)

This painting presents an abstracted figure in a pseudo place, surrounded by a psychological space of loaded possibilities, challenging the everyday sense of reality. Discordance, dissonance, incongruity, distortion and disconnection: these were the underlying sensations I aimed to evoke within the composition of the work. It is influenced by the surrealist work of Francis Bacon.
The painting surface is polymer varnished to aid in protection and it is ready for hanging with hangers and wire stretched across the back.

This art explores colour, form, pattern and figuration and recompose the shapes and shadows of nature and the built environment. It is based on realism with a distortion factor, canvassing aspects of the ordinary and the extraordinary and evoking a sense of the social dynamics and psychological layers of identity and place.
