This is a painting of a Heron I observed while out on a hike looking for painting subjects. He was staring so intently in the distance, I wondered what he was thinking. Was he indeed waiting for lunch?

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
I am a native of Illinois and became interested in drawing and painting in the 8th grade. In 1960, my father worked for the Federal Government and was transferred to Sacramento, California. I lost interest in art when I moved to Sacramento, where I attended high school, graduating in 1965. I moved to Los Angeles, California, after graduating, and attended UCLA.
I eventually moved back to Sacramento, where I worked as a Police Officer in Folsom, CA, and attended Law School. After Law School, I went to work for the District Attorney's office in Yolo County. While there, my interest in art was rekindled and I began drawing and painting again, which I continue to do today. I took several art classes at Sacramento City College and enrolled in the Evolve Artist's Academy to improve my understanding of the fundamentals of drawing, grisaille painting, color, and technique. My concentration in oil painting involves still-life and landscapes of the California central valley and the mountains just miles from my home.
