Artwork Description

'Splash History' is a new limited edition series based on an earlier series which was very successful.

This series of mixed media paintings and framed prints are a tribute to an English illustrator William Hogarth from the mid 18th century who depicted the more colourful side of life during this time .

It combines splash painting with 4 old etchings my grandparents had in their living room. They are deep indigo colour on white paper and are framed in a box frame with UV protective perspex. These exclusive prints are signed and numbered by myself.
These prints are unique to me and I have never seen anything similar. I developed the technique about 17 years ago when working as a textile designer and I used to get bored and treat myself to playing around with these.
The 4 prints are individually numbered, titled, signed and dated by me.
1. Lust Lane
2. The Feast
3. The Judgement
4. The Society

The total dimensions of each including white border and frame:
52.5cm x 52.5cm

Image dimensions each:
39cm x 39cm

They will fit into a space of 115 x 115 cm allowing for a 10cm gap between each.

Framed art prints with perspex are heavily protected in double bubble wrap and double cardboard supports.

Artist Bio

George is a multi-media artist based in Sydney Australia, with paintings and mixed-media works represented in private and public collections globally.

Trained in formal figurative practices and techniques, honed over three decades in international textile and fashion design, George now paints seven days a week, loves turning mistakes into ideas, and is equally adept observing formal rules and breaking them for a reason.

His work is energetic, calming and whimsical, and reflects the semi-tropical colours of his native New Zealand, a Fijian childhood and the dazzling colours of Australian nature and urban life. He incorporates layers in mixed media, acrylics, collage and glazes, applied with brushes, sponges and rough-textured towels and sometimes dyeing natural canvas first to create background and depth.

George’s art is fluid and uplifting, with signature collections including The Funk, Freehand, Optimist Heart, Silent Paradise, News, and the Gradual series.
