Pilliga Dreaming was inspired by my experience of the Pilliga Scrub after the rainy season. I had never seen a place so beautiful, and being there completely changed the way I saw Country.
The deep red earth, waterways and waterholes, flowers and plants emerging after rain, the trees and the incredible sunsets all created a landscape that is difficult to capture in words or paint. The artesian bore waterholes used by people across Country are also an important part of the landscape.
Through this artwork, I wanted to share my connection to the Pilliga and the beauty I experienced there — a living landscape shaped by water, rain, earth, plants and sunlight
