this painting depicts the story told by an elder many years ago now regarding the Southern Cross and the man who's Lore it was. he said:
Old Grandfather could have told you about the stars that was his judavil (totem/Lore)
he could name them all
he told the story about the Southern Cross
Gineevee is the black swan flying along the sky and the spear thrown to catch her
but when the white man came it now is The Southern Cross.

this painting depicts Gineevee the ancient culture and people Dreamtime story and the new modern world The Southern Cross here now in Australia. And the tall ships crusing up the eastern coast of Australia and along the coastal land the tribes sending up smoke signals warning the next tribe,

since 1993 I have painted professionally and loved every minute of it. My biggest influence in both art and life is my Dad. He was a successful artist,storyteller, community elder and traditional man. Though sadly he has passed now I hold strong my ties to my tribes and respect and protect our stories. Most of my art recounts my family stories passed on by Dad,mum,nan & great grandparents. I come from the Gidabul/Ngarkabul/Widjabul on mums side & Wonnarua/ Dhunghutti on my Dads.

I also share my passion for art by facilitating workshops for children teaching them all about my wonderful culture and art. I am very fortunate to work with and mentor vulnerable women both indigenous and non-indigenous through art, listening and sharing. I hold yarning circles with the indigenous women at a womens rehabilitation centre. we are able to hold such a sacred space really creates a safe space for healing.
