Australian Landscapes
Like most Australian Artists a trip to the Red centre, Kakadu, Cape York and the Kimberley areas was a must in my evolving artistic journey. The vastness of this ancient land, and the impressive red rock escarpments silhouetted against the clear blue skies, has left images that will influence her work for years to come.
Some of the monolithic rock shapes rising steeply from the flat sandy plains have strong totemic shapes, dwarfing any human habitation, and alluding to the civilizations that have passed this way before. The many layered landscape – often resembling some enormous sculpture - has deep gorges and steep canyon walls with cool shady pools hidden below reflecting the intense colours and sunlight filtering through the chasms.
For 23years her studio was on the Sunshine Coast Queensland , Australia and was surrounded by tall white Melaleuca trees which reflected in the waterlily ponds constantly stimulating her senses .
Glenise has travelled and worked in the Pacific Islands and has travelled in Europe - always with a sketch book in hand . Her many European paintings and Pacific Islands paintings give glimpses into different cultures that are rapidly changing.
her sculptures are often in praise of women and and reflect her love of the human form.
