I began my career as a designer in the fashion industry and my interest and love of colour texture and design has never waned. I’ve now replaced fabrics with canvases and paper. My studio is based where I live on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. I’m essentially self taught, though many wonderful tutors have certainly been a big influence on my artistic journey. From award winning China painting and ceramics to watercolours and finally acrylics.
After much experimentation a style of abstract emerged and in the process I discovered what was important to me, in what I saw and felt when painting. I especially found joy in landscapes and sky scenes, perhaps because the colours were always changing.
I’ve always loved working with watercolours, flowing, soft and mysterious with pigments that burst onto the paper, it’s always a wonderful challenge.
My acrylics on large canvases has taught me to let go, be brave and in the process I began to layer many colours with brushes that give a translucency that changes with the light of day.
I strive for my art to evoke a sense of calm and relaxation and always a little mystery.
It’s important to remember when buying an artwork, you are doing so for your personal space, so therefore it’s an investment in two things only, your happiness when you gaze at it and the thoughtfulness it brings to a space. So buy a piece that you love and don’t worry too much about the size or especially where to hang it. If you love it you’ll find a spot, we always do!
Thank you for your interest.
