This body of work was completed as an antidote to “Life, the universe…” the studio was cleaned and tidied and with much more space I could paint.
I approached the work as a mindfulness exercise. Each piece is simple and quiet, concerned with the close observation of light, shadow, colour and form. The work is a resting place.
I teach painting to students and through this piece I also wanted to explore some of the problems students often encounter whilst tackling still life. I wanted to practice what I preach and here is the result
