Kuruyultu - Henry, 16-682

This painting is about a Dreamtime story. The Ngaanyatjarra people call the site 'Kuru Yurltu'- meaning 'Hollow Eye'. This
cavern-like tunnel holds a large body of water, and is the the physical representation of a dreamtime story in which a
man is speared through the torso as punishment for a crime. This tunnel represents the hole in the man's body after
being speared. Henry paints the surrounding country of this site from his grandfather and grandmother, o􀅌en depicting
the sandhills.

This painting needs to be framed. It’s also being sent direct from the artist at a remote art centre, Tjarlirli Art, in the top end. Please note there is only one mail plane a week that picks up the artworks. The tracking information is then received a week later when the mail plane returns so often the paintings are delivered before we receive the tracking information. Henry Farmer was born in Docker River. He is the son of
senior artist and law woman Annie Farmer. Henry has only
started painting in recent years in Docker River, however
he paints strong Tjukurrpa from his grandmother and
grandfather of the country around Kuruyultu - a sacred site
north-west of Docker River.
