Madrigal #5; Connections
This artwork is another in my series where I interpret, with paint on canvas, my version of the complex polyphonic vocal style Madrigal where unaccompanied voices blend together in a musical form reflecting the structure of a poem. The different ‘voices’ in this painting are my various blocks of colours and shapes where I weave light and dark hues with intuitive and deliberate shapes to achieve a cohesive ‘poem of abstraction’
The feeling of ‘connections’ came to the painting unconsciously as I probed the colour palette for my ‘voice’ to reveal authentic and expressive design connections strong enough to support the poetry. The red/orange glow forms a warm undertone and I have reinforced this vibe with metallic copper and added blue, green and violet accents giving a nod to my quest for luminance and energy. The textures I produce are necessary for tactile enjoyment of this original work.
Join me as we journey into the world of joyous colours in abstract expressionism.
