Artwork Description

Margaret Grimes (1943-2020) was a landscape painter and Art Professor whom I taught with at Chauatuqua Art Institution. Grimes found her motifs in densely overgrown and ungroomed places, and this scene reminded me of her work. Such scenery is very well suited for my style which incorporates unconventional compositions, vivid texture, gestural painting marks, emphasized color and other features of 21st century painting, along with a solid Academic foundation and use of the Old Master’s techniques.
