Artwork Description

There is something about turtles that is so captivating to me. They look so calm and serene yet they show strength and character all at the same time.
The first thing that came to mind when I started this painting was to capture every single detail that I could see in the flippers, the tough skin, the facial expression, and also the fact that the animal was able to cruise through the ocean of clouds, carefree, carrying the floating island on its back, heading towards the sun.

The floating village is meant to represent exploration and looking forward to a brighter future along with the strong sense of community togetherness that is shown in the floating village.

There is a sense of calm where swaying branches and soft leaves of various plants are gently swaying in the breeze and they create a beautiful melody that compliments the song of a whale that can be heard below.
There are many wonderful textures that can be seen on the canvas, including the ripples in the ocean, as well as the gold finish that gives the sands and lands in the distance a golden brown yellow hue.

This painting has an extra magic to it because the kite that is attached to the turtle's flipper is also flying high in the distance and is surrounded by the fiery red sky of the sunset and the warmth of the wonderful day.

Artist Bio

From an early age, I was drawn to creative expression, discovering my passion for art as soon as I could hold a crayon.
I pursued this passion academically, earning a degree in Art Education in Ukraine, which laid the foundation for my artistic and teaching career.
After relocating to Australia in 2002, I continued to develop my practice and actively sought opportunities to exhibit my work.
I have since participated in various art prizes and exhibited in local galleries, while also sharing my knowledge through teaching, both in my home studio and within the school community attended by my children.
For me, art is more than a passion; it is a lifelong journey of exploration, growth, and connection. Through both my creative practice and teaching, I aim to inspire others to experience the joy and transformative power of art. My work has allowed me to engage with audiences locally on the Gold Coast and internationally, reinforcing my belief in creativity as a universal language that enriches lives.
